Nothing for Something

I've been thinking a lot lately about how a "dollar isn't what it used to be." I think you're required to think this way once you pass 30. It's just something you eventually notice because of inflation, entropy and possibly too much vitamin B.

Anyway, I'm putting in a pic here of a soda I bought at Target. It's a small. For $1.07. Next to it, for the purpose of comparison, is the Creative Zen Micro. It's called Micro because it's so damn small. It's the last of the great micro-drive mp3 players and I still use it from time to time. And it's as tall as my soda. Harumph. (This is also a noise you actually start making the night of your 30th birthday. The first one can be frightening, but don't worry, everything will be ok...)

I'm flirting with the idea of uploading the occasional MP3 (of actual bands making actual music) for people to listen to. I'm not going to go out of my way to be an mp3 blog, because frankly my musical taste is neither interesting nor comprehensive enough to validate such a thing. Still, I love finding new music, and I'd bet the kind of people who will find my blog at all interesting will as well.

I look forward to the day this isn't a conversation with myself (if it ever comes), because I would like to be able to ask a few questions here and there, just to see what people are up to. Until that time, I guess I'm on my own to provide content. The horror!

It's the day before New Years, I'm in a Target in a Los Angeles that happens to have the Nintendo Wii in stock. There's a mob. I think some of them have torches. This may not end well...
